Earl Spencer has claimed he told US broadcaster Barbara Walters in 1997 that the King said, “we’ll forget her soon enough” after Diana, Princess of Wales, died. Speaking to Gayle King on CBS Mornings, Spencer said he was certain he heard the remark. Buckingham Palace has rejected the allegation, saying “fraternal grief can cloud reason, affect judgment and colour memory”.
