A man has been charged after police received a report that a boat disturbed a pod of dolphins off Portknockie on June 27. He will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal. Police reminded the public that dolphins, whales and porpoises are protected in Scottish territorial waters.

A man has been charged in connection with the alleged disturbance of a pod of dolphins off the Moray coast.
Police said they received a report of a boat disturbing the animals in the water off Portknockie on June 27. The man will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal.
Dolphins, whales and porpoises in Scottish territorial waters are protected by law. It is an offence to deliberately or recklessly disturb or harass them.
Constable Bryony Munro urged people to follow the Scottish Marine Wildlife Watching Code and take care not to disturb marine wildlife, whether watching from the shore or at sea.
She said anyone observing behaviour they considered to be disturbance or harassment should record as much detail as possible and report it to police.
