Iranian Foreign Ministry Official Says Some Laws Need Review Under Sanctions
Hamid Ghanbari says revisions to parts of the Seventh Development Plan are under consideration in the field of economic diplomacy.
Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Diplomacy Hamid Ghanbari said parts of the country’s laws and regulations, including the Seventh Development Plan, need review under sanctions. He said revisions related to economic diplomacy were being pursued with the Plan and Budget Organization, while a government meeting also examined U.S. sanctions and global market effects linked to war.
TEHRAN — Some laws and regulations, including parts of Iran’s Seventh Development Plan, need to be reviewed in response to sanctions, Hamid Ghanbari, deputy foreign minister for economic diplomacy, said at a meeting of the Foreign Economic Relations Coordination Headquarters.
Ghanbari made the remarks at the headquarters’ sixth meeting of the year, held at the Foreign Ministry on Sunday, 22 Shahrivar 1405, with the participation of economic deputies from government agencies, according to Iran’s IRNA news agency.
The meeting examined the structure of U.S. sanctions against Iran, their effects on various sectors and measures to counter them.
Ghanbari said coordination and cooperation among government bodies could help reduce the impact of what he called “unjust sanctions.” He added that using each agency’s capabilities, dividing responsibilities and taking proactive and preventive measures would make efforts to counter the sanctions more effective.
He said some procedures and regulations needed to be changed or reformed under the current conditions. According to Ghanbari, changes to certain legal provisions—particularly those related to economic diplomacy—were being pursued in cooperation with the Plan and Budget Organization.
For the first time, the headquarters also addressed analysis of global markets and the effects of war on those markets, with the aim of supporting political and economic decision-making, he said.
