A dual UK-Iranian national has become the sixth person arrested in connection with the suspected terror plot near RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire.

Counter Terrorism Policing said the man was arrested in Westminster on Thursday and that officers had searched two properties in the area. A 26-year-old UK national was also questioned under caution.

Five British nationals arrested near the military site over the weekend were released on bail under investigation on Monday. Police said petrol, but no explosive devices, was found in vans that triggered the security alert. The investigation is examining possible foreign state involvement, while Andy Burnham said there were “strong indications” Iran played a part.
