Jagtar Singh Johal, from Dumbarton, has been released from prison on bail after being detained in India for nearly nine years without conviction. His brother, Gurpreet Singh Johal, described the release as “a moment of joy but also of sorrow”. Johal, who was arrested in 2017 over alleged terrorism offences, remains on trial in several cases and has surrendered his passport. The UK Government said bail was “not the end of the process” and that it would continue providing consular support.
