Ukraine reports overnight strikes, casualties and mounting pressure on its air-defence systems

Ukrainian authorities said the barrage damaged apartment buildings, houses and public transportation in Kyiv, wounding one person. In Odesa, local officials reported eight people wounded and damage to residential buildings, civilian infrastructure, a school, an animal shelter and port facilities.
Ukraine said its air defences shot down two ballistic missiles. Officials said the country is developing faster interceptor drones to counter Russia’s jet-powered drones, while Patriot interceptor missile stocks remain low.
Russia’s Defence Ministry said its forces struck military-related facilities in Kyiv and the Kyiv region, as well as infrastructure in Odesa. Those claims could not be independently verified from the supplied evidence.
