Plasma Technology, Razavi Agriculture Companies Sign Cooperation Memorandum
The agreement covers plasma treatment of seeds, wastewater treatment, pest management and applications in livestock farming.
Plasma Technology Development Company and Razavi Agriculture Company signed a memorandum to expand plasma applications in agriculture. The agreement covers seed treatment, plasma-activated water, livestock farming and agricultural wastewater treatment, with an initial implementation planned across 100 hectares of farmland.
TEHRAN — A joint cooperation memorandum has been signed between Plasma Technology Development Company and Razavi Agriculture Company in the presence of Mohammad Eslami, Iran’s vice president and head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran.
The memorandum was signed on Monday by Mahdieh Bakhtiari, chief executive of Plasma Technology Development Company, and Mehdi Jafa’i, chief executive of Razavi Agriculture Company. It aims to expand the use of plasma technology in agriculture.
Eslami said seeds for crops including wheat, corn, rapeseed and barley, as well as saffron bulbs, would be processed using plasma technology under the agreement. He said a pilot project conducted by Razavi Agriculture Company last year had produced what he described as positive results in the cultivation and harvesting of agricultural products.
Under the implementation phase, plasma technology is expected to be used across 100 hectares of Razavi Agriculture Company’s farmland. Eslami said the technology could help improve agricultural productivity and reduce costs amid water-resource constraints.
He also said the parties planned to use plasma technology to treat wastewater and recycle water, potentially helping address water stress. According to Eslami, initial studies have been conducted to complete a wastewater-treatment system for agricultural use.
The agreement’s areas of cooperation include plasma treatment of seeds—with wheat, corn, rapeseed, barley, cumin and saffron bulbs listed as priorities—the production and use of plasma-activated water for pest management and agricultural productivity, applications in livestock farming, and the use of plasma technology to complete wastewater-treatment processes for agriculture.
Eslami further said plasma technology could be applied to soil, water and plants. He added that Razavi Agriculture Company’s 2,200 hectares of pistachio orchards would be treated with plasma technology to remove aflatoxin, according to the report.
