Iranian state media says Israel’s prime minister may turn to external crises to manage domestic challenges
An IRNA report assesses that Benjamin Netanyahu is facing increasing electoral difficulties and may seek to manage domestic pressure through external crises. It warns that an escalation of tensions by Israel remains possible.
Tehran — Electoral competition is becoming increasingly difficult for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, according to a report by Iran’s IRNA news agency.
The report said Netanyahu has typically responded to domestic difficulties by creating external crises, generating fear and then attempting to manage it in order to maintain his image as Israel’s “Mr. Security.” It added that, in this context, an escalation of tensions by Israel cannot be ruled out.
The assessment was presented in IRNA’s weekly “Compass” program, which examines developments in Israel, the policies and actions of its government, and their effects on regional tensions. The report was prepared by Maryam Shafiei, Mohsen Farhadkhani and Olayee.
