TEHRAN — Lebanon’s Health Ministry said Israeli forces burned Mais al-Jabal Government Hospital in southern Lebanon and completely destroyed it, according to a report by Iran’s IRNA news agency citing Al Mayadeen.
The ministry condemned the reported targeting of healthcare institutions, infrastructure and medical personnel, calling it a serious crime. It appealed to the international community, the World Health Organization and the International Committee of the Red Cross to hold Israel accountable for what it described as such violations.
IRNA reported that Israel launched a broad offensive against Lebanon on March 2. According to the report, the attacks killed and wounded Lebanese civilians, displaced more than one million people and left parts of southern Lebanon under Israeli occupation.
Lebanon and Israel also signed a U.S.-mediated “framework agreement” last month, according to IRNA. The agreement was described as aiming to end the war between Israel and Hezbollah and followed several rounds of direct talks between the two sides in Washington.
The agreement has faced criticism, the report added, including over uncertainty about its legal status and the absence of a clear timetable for the withdrawal of Israeli forces.
