TEHRAN — Four knowledge-based achievements developed by Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization were unveiled and commissioned during Government Week in the presence of Mohammad Eslami, vice president and head of the organization, along with senior managers from the nuclear industry, according to the Iranian Students’ News Agency (IRNA).

The projects include a photoelectron system, a bolometry system, a charge-exchange system and a non-destructive testing (NDT) laboratory.

The photoelectron system is designed to measure the electron temperature of tokamak plasma. It is a non-contact diagnostic tool that determines electron temperature by measuring the energy and characteristics of X-rays emitted from the plasma. The system is intended for use in the development of future tokamak-based energy production in Iran.

The bolometry system, described in the report as the first of its kind designed and produced in Iran, measures the power lost by tokamak plasma and can be used to optimize performance. Bolometry is used in tokamaks to measure energy losses caused by radiation emitted from confined plasma.

The charge-exchange system, also described as having been designed and produced domestically for the first time, measures tokamak plasma ions. Its purpose is to determine plasma ion temperature using neutral atoms, and it is intended for use in future tokamak energy-production projects.

The newly commissioned NDT laboratory is a specialized center for testing, inspection, training and assessing the qualifications of technical personnel. It is intended to provide technical and engineering services to a range of industries.

According to the report, the laboratory uses visual inspection, penetrant testing, magnetic-particle testing, ultrasonic testing, radiographic testing and eddy-current testing. Its services include training for nuclear-industry units, personnel qualification examinations under ISO/IEC 9712, specialist consulting, and non-destructive testing for aviation, power-generation, oil and gas industries.

The report said the achievements resulted from cooperation between government bodies, knowledge-based companies, and scientific and research centers, creating a platform for providing specialized services to various industries.
