Iran’s foreign minister calls for global shift away from militarism
Abbas Araghchi said development, sovereignty and equal application of international law should guide international relations.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi urged a move from militarism and intervention toward development, sovereignty, international law and regional dialogue in a speech at the 2026 Global Dialogue Forum.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has called for a fundamental shift away from war, foreign intervention, sanctions and coercion in international relations.
Speaking at the 2026 Global Dialogue Forum in Indonesia, Araghchi said military intervention does not create lasting security and urged greater respect for national sovereignty, international law and multilateralism. He also criticized what he described as Israeli actions in Gaza and Lebanon, and U.S. and Israeli military action against Iran.
Araghchi said sustainable security in the Middle East should be shaped by countries in the region through dialogue, confidence-building and cooperation rather than imposed by outside powers.
