The European Union has urged the United States to reconsider its decision to extend visa restrictions on members of the Palestinian delegation for a second consecutive year. In a statement, the EU cited U.S. obligations as the host country of the United Nations and existing agreements concerning the organization’s headquarters. Reuters previously reported that the United States had denied entry visas to Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, while the U.S. State Department said the restrictions targeted Palestinian officials over actions it described as efforts to internationalize the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
