A Ugandan journalist and prince has been crowned king of the traditional Tooro Kingdom, taking the regnal name Edward Rukidi Nyabongo, The Associated Press reported.
The coronation follows the death of King Oyo Nyimba, who died of cancer in August at age 34 without a publicly known heir. Elders from the kingdom’s ruling Babiito clan selected Nyabongo, but Queen Mother Best Kemigisa has disputed the decision, saying Oyo left behind a young son and that his written will was not followed.
