Earl Spencer says he told Barbara Walters about alleged Diana remark

Earl Spencer has claimed he told journalist Barbara Walters in 1997 that the King said, “we’ll forget her soon enough” after Diana, Princess of Wales, died.

Speaking to Gayle King on CBS Mornings, Spencer said he remembered hearing the remark and rejected suggestions that his memory was affected. The allegation appears in his book, Swan Song: Diana, My Sister. Buckingham Palace has responded that “fraternal grief can cloud reason, affect judgment and colour memory”.
