The average price of diesel in the UK has reached a record 199.18p per litre, according to figures compiled by the RAC.
The price is 56.8p higher than on February 28 and exceeds the previous record of 199.09p, set in June 2022. Chancellor John Healey said he was concerned about the pressure rising fuel prices were putting on households and businesses, and said decisions on fuel duty beyond the end of the year would be announced in the October 28 Budget.
