Sudan’s army said Saturday that it and allied forces had taken control of Abu Qaud, Um Sumeima, Mount Abu Sinoun and surrounding areas in North Kordofan after several days of heavy fighting with the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). The army said operations to pursue remaining RSF fighters and secure the areas were continuing, with plans to reopen the El Obeid–Dilling road. The claims could not be independently verified. Fighting between the army and RSF has continued across Sudan since April 2023, causing a severe humanitarian crisis.
