Speakers at a London conference criticized Western governments’ support for Israel, called for arms sanctions and accountability, and highlighted Gaza’s humanitarian and healthcare crisis.
Speakers at the annual Peace and Justice Project conference in London said Israel’s actions in Gaza and U.S. military operations against Iran had exposed what they described as the failures of Western governments and the international legal order. Palestinian activist Omar Barghouti, journalist Abby Martin, former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn and others called for an arms embargo on Israel, political accountability and opposition to rising military spending. Speakers also warned of Gaza’s collapsing healthcare system and urged broader regional movements to link the Palestinian issue with developments in Iran, Lebanon and Yemen.
