Iraqi Parliament Member Expresses Full Support for Resistance Weapons
Says the weapons deter terrorism, defend sovereignty, and resist foreign pressure
An Iraqi MP, Mohammad Al-Mousawi, reaffirmed support for the resistance’s weapons, describing them as a deterrent against terrorism and a means to defend sovereignty, while dismissing disarmament calls as attempts to undermine security. IRNA reported, citing the Iraqi outlet Al-Maloomah, that Iraqi MP Mohammad Al-Mousawi voiced unwavering support for the weapons of the resistance. Hesaid the arms of the resistance are intended to deter enemies and counter terrorist groups, with a national and historic role including breaking terrorism, liberating occupied cities, and defending Iraq’s sovereignty and stability. Al-Mousawi argued that portraying the resistance weapons as a threat to civilians is an attempt to undermine security. He described the weapons as a protective safeguard for the land and its people against external dangers and destructive schemes, and emphasized that their direction remains toward confronting enemies and terrorist groups, not toward the civilian population. The MP also referenced remarks by Moqaddad Al-Khafaji of the Movement for Rights in Parliament, who called the weapons a natural and legitimate response to domination and foreign interference, noting that no party under foreign dictates has the right to demand disarmament until the United States and Israel stop their aggression.
