Russia’s minister for emergency situations, General Alexander Kronkov, said Moscow is interested in sending a delegation to Tehran to learn from Iran’s experience in protecting infrastructure and providing relief during wartime. Speaking during a meeting with an Iranian crisis-management delegation in Astrakhan, he also expressed readiness to support Iran and expand cooperation in training, firefighting, disaster response and joint exercises. Iranian officials proposed developing a long-term bilateral agreement on crisis management. The discussions took place alongside the Caspian 2026 international exercise, attended by the five Caspian littoral states and featuring emergency-response drills, including firefighting, search and rescue, oil-spill control and helicopter rescue operations.
