Eleven people were killed in an explosion at a Syrian army base in the Ayyash area west of Deir ez-Zor, Syria’s Defense Ministry said, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) and Iran’s IRNA news agency.
The explosion occurred on Friday in an area west of Deir ez-Zor in eastern Syria. The ministry did not provide a cause for the blast.
A funeral ceremony for those killed was held in Deir ez-Zor on Saturday, attended by officials as well as the victims’ families and relatives.
