Uzbekistan Calls for Lower Truck Transit Tariffs Through Iran
Uzbekistan’s ambassador urged Iran to reduce transit tariffs for Uzbek trucks and discussed broader measures to expand bilateral trade and transport cooperation.
Uzbekistan’s ambassador to Tehran, Fariduddin Nasriov, has called for lower Iranian transit tariffs for Uzbek trucks, saying the fees are high and have contributed to fewer Uzbek trucks crossing Iran than Iranian trucks using routes through Uzbekistan last year. At a meeting with the Iran Chamber of Commerce, officials also discussed transport facilitation, a target of $2 billion in bilateral trade, visa access for Iranian businesspeople and expanded cooperation in energy, agriculture and engineering services.
