UN urges full international access to Gaza to document remains
The UN is calling for unrestricted access to Gaza to document remains, preserve forensic evidence and investigate possible war crimes.
The United Nations has urged Israel to allow international investigators access to all areas of Gaza as more human remains are recovered from collapsed buildings. UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk said evidence must be preserved and victims identified, warning that the discoveries could indicate war crimes and other serious violations. The Palestinian Civil Defense said more than 630 bodies and human remains have been recovered since November, while the UN cited estimates that more than 8,000 people remain missing under the rubble. The figures and allegations have not been independently verified.
