Power Grid Development Supports More Reliable Energy Supply, Iran’s Energy Minister Says
A new 63/20-kilovolt substation and double-circuit transmission line have entered service in Jahrom following a reported investment of 2.75 trillion rials.
Iranian Energy Minister Abbas Aliabadi said power-grid expansion is essential for reliable energy supply and regional development during the commissioning of the Jahrom 4 substation and an associated 10.6-kilometre double-circuit transmission line. The project, including a 40-megavolt-ampere 63/20-kilovolt substation, was built with a reported investment of 275 billion tomans.
**SHIRAZ —** The development of transmission and sub-transmission infrastructure is essential to maintaining a reliable energy supply and supporting regional development, Iran’s Energy Minister Abbas Aliabadi said at a ceremony marking the commissioning of a new power substation and transmission line in Jahrom.
Aliabadi said strengthening and expanding the electricity network would not only improve the reliability of power supplies, but also create better conditions for industrial, agricultural and other economic activity. His remarks were reported by IRNA during the inauguration ceremony for the Jahrom 4 63/20-kilovolt substation and its associated double-circuit transmission line.
The project was built with a reported total investment of 275 billion tomans. It consists of the Jahrom 4 substation, constructed at a cost of 195 billion tomans, and a 10.6-kilometre double-circuit transmission line, constructed with an investment of 80 billion tomans.
The substation has a capacity of 40 megavolt-amperes. Together, the substation and transmission line are intended to expand the electricity supply capacity of Jahrom and reinforce the infrastructure used to transmit and distribute power in the area.
Navab Ghaedi, managing director of Fars Regional Electricity Company, said the project would enable more reliable electricity supply for customers and help the network respond to new demand in the region. He also described the project as a step toward improving the network’s operational flexibility and stability, as well as the conditions for supplying different categories of consumers in Jahrom.
The project’s commissioning adds new capacity to the electricity network of the county. According to the reported statements, the investment is part of broader efforts to develop the power grid and strengthen energy-supply capacity in Jahrom.
Aliabadi’s comments placed the local project within a wider infrastructure context. He said the expansion of transmission and high-voltage distribution networks was a requirement for sustainable energy supply and for supporting development in different parts of the country. The statements did not provide additional details about future projects, expected demand levels or the timeline for further network expansion.
