Le Monde: Abraham Accords failed to deliver regional peace
Le Monde analysis says the Abraham Accords have increased conflict and instability in the Middle East instead of strengthening regional peace.
A Le Monde analysis by Middle East historian Jean-Pierre Filiu argues that the Abraham Accords have intensified regional divisions and militarization rather than advancing broad peace and normalization. The agreements began in 2020 with Israel, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain, later expanding to Sudan and Morocco. Filiu says developments in Sudan and Gaza, along with shifts by Saudi Arabia and Oman, show the accords have not created a foundation for regional peace.
