Iran reports 11% rise in CNG consumption after gasoline price change
Average daily consumption increased by about 2 million cubic meters during the first week, an official says.
Iranian officials reported an 11% increase in average daily CNG consumption in the week after the third-tier gasoline price was raised to 100,000 rials.
TEHRAN — Iran’s average daily CNG consumption rose by approximately 2 million cubic meters, or 11%, in the week after the government raised the third-tier gasoline price to 100,000 rials, according to Mohammad-Sadegh Azimi-Far, deputy oil minister and head of the National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company.
Azimi-Far said the increase, compared with consumption in August and the first half of September, was accompanied by lower gasoline use and could help reduce the country’s reliance on imports. He also said the company is prioritizing the free conversion of high-mileage internet-based passenger and freight vehicles to CNG.
