Iran Fuel Distributor Clarifies Petrol Quota Changes
The company says existing subsidized quotas remain in place for most private passenger cars, while the higher-priced petrol tier has changed.
The national fuel distributor says most eligible private cars still receive their previous subsidized petrol quotas. It says the only implemented price change since 17 Shahrivar 1405 was raising the third tier from 50,000 to 100,000 rials per litre; the 1-billion-toman eligibility ceiling for newly produced domestic cars is under review.
Iran’s National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company says it has not changed the existing petrol quotas for most private passenger cars. According to its notice, eligible vehicles continue to receive 60 litres at 15,000 rials per litre and 50 litres at 30,000 rials per litre.
The notice excludes government vehicles, imported vehicles, vehicles in free-trade zones, and second and subsequent vehicles owned by people with multiple cars. It also says the eligibility ceiling for newly produced domestic vehicles—previously set at a value of 1 billion tomans—is under review because of market changes.
The company identifies the only change since 17 Shahrivar 1405 as an increase in the third petrol price tier from 50,000 to 100,000 rials per litre.
