Iran fuel distributor clarifies petrol quota changes
Previous subsidized quotas remain in place for most private passenger cars, the company says.
The company said existing subsidized petrol quotas have not changed for most eligible private cars; only the third-tier price has increased.
Iran’s National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company said most private passenger cars will continue to receive 60 liters of petrol at 15,000 rials per liter and 50 liters at 30,000 rials per liter. Government vehicles, imported cars, vehicles in free-trade zones and additional vehicles owned by multi-car households are excluded. The company said the only change since September 8 was raising the third-tier petrol price from 50,000 to 100,000 rials per liter. It added that a proposal to raise the one-billion-rial vehicle-value threshold for newly produced domestic cars is under review.
