GCC chief condemns reported drone attack on Saudi Arabia

GCC Secretary-General Jassem Mohamed Albudaiwi condemned a reported drone attack by Yemen’s Ansarullah on Saudi Arabia’s Taif province. He called for an international response and reaffirmed the GCC’s support for Saudi Arabia. Saudi authorities reported one death and two injuries after a drone was intercepted and debris fell.
Jassem Mohamed Albudaiwi, secretary-general of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), condemned what he described as a drone attack by Yemen’s Ansarullah on Saudi Arabia’s Taif province, according to a statement published by the council on X.
Albudaiwi said the continued attacks and repeated targeting of civilian and densely populated areas in Saudi Arabia represented a dangerous escalation, endangered civilians and violated international laws and treaties. He called for a firm international response, an end to the attacks and accountability for those responsible.
He also reaffirmed the GCC’s solidarity with Saudi Arabia in confronting threats to its security, stability and territorial integrity, saying the council’s member states supported Riyadh’s efforts to protect its security and sovereignty.
Saudi Arabia’s rescue and relief organization separately reported that one person was killed and two others were injured in Taif after a drone was intercepted and destroyed and fragments fell in the province.
