Shapour Mohammadi said decentralized solar generation could reduce the vulnerability of Iran’s energy infrastructure to military threats.

TEHRAN — Shapour Mohammadi, former head of Iran’s Securities and Exchange Organization, said decentralized renewable power infrastructure could help protect the country’s energy system from threats targeting power plants.

Speaking at the launch of subscriptions for units in the Hursan solar power project fund on the Iran Energy Exchange, Mohammadi said dispersed solar facilities would be harder to destroy than centralized plants. He also highlighted the recent offering of units in the Noor renewable project, described as a 500-megawatt project spanning several provinces.
