Motörhead guitarist Phil Campbell died from multi-organ failure after complications following necessary surgeries, an inquest at St Pancras Coroner’s Court heard.
Campbell, who joined the band in 1984 and remained its guitarist until it disbanded in 2015, underwent two liver transplants and bowel surgery at London’s Royal Free Hospital. Coroner Dr Richard Brittain said there was nothing to suggest his death could have been prevented and described it as resulting from recognised complications of necessary surgical procedures. Campbell died in hospital on March 13, aged 64.
