CNN: U.S. war with Iran has cost more than $45 billion

The Pentagon’s estimate exceeds the Congressional Budget Office’s earlier projection of $38 billion through August 1. The Pentagon had estimated the cost at $37.5 billion in July.
The Congressional Budget Office previously said most of the spending was related to munitions and estimated that the conflict would continue to cost the United States about $2 billion to $3 billion per month after August 1. It also said costs could rise during periods of intensified fighting.
The office further told Congress that the war was expected to increase inflation in the first quarter of 2027, potentially adding to economic pressures facing U.S. households.
