Ukraine’s foreign minister said he spoke with Iran’s counterpart on the UN General Assembly sidelines in New York, discussing the Middle East, Europe, and peace efforts, and that both sides agreed to keep communication channels open.
Tehran—IRNA reports that Ukraine’s foreign minister said he met Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi on the margins of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. The Ukrainian official, identified in Persian sources as Sibiha, said the talks continued a July phone conversation between the two ministers. In a post on X, Sibiha wrote: “Diplomacy means direct dialogue, even in difficult conditions. We agreed to keep the channels of communication open.” He added that the two ministers discussed the Middle East and Europe, as well as “various channels of ongoing peace efforts,” and that he reaffirmed Ukraine’s position in supporting peace and stability as soon as possible in both regions.
