Yemen’s foreign ministry says Saudi casualties stem from intercepting defense systems, claiming Yemen targets only military sites and urging global accountability for Saudi actions.
According to a statement cited by Iran's IRNA from Yemen’s Saba News Agency, the Yemeni Foreign Ministry in Sanaa said that the alleged Saudi casualties were the result of Riyadh’s defense-system interceptions. The statement accuses Saudi Arabia of deliberately carrying intercept operations over populated areas to increase casualties, and says the Yemeni armed forces have for 12 years shown they do not target civilians or residential neighborhoods, but only military bases and oil facilities that fund the war. It further asserts that the Saudi regime has killed tens of thousands and that international organizations acknowledge this, while claiming Yemeni operations follow religious, ethical, and humanitarian principles. The ministry also denounces Saudi actions as “criminal and ISIS-like,” urging the international community to take responsibility, and states Yemen reserves the right to respond to any actions threatening Yemen’s security and stability.
