LONDON — IRNA — The Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND) in the United Kingdom condemned the illegal attacks by the United States and the Zionist regime against Iran and their obstruction of diplomacy, stressing the need to end the war and resolve the crisis through negotiation. In a statement, CND urged the United States and Israel to halt the illegal war against Iran and urged Washington to pursue a diplomatic path to resolving the crisis. The group also called on the British government to use its diplomatic influence to persuade the United States and Israel to participate in United Nations conferences aimed at achieving a Middle East free of nuclear weapons.
CND noted that the attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities demonstrate that the United States and Israel have consistently attempted to undermine diplomatic efforts to address concerns about Iran’s nuclear program. The statement added that in the year 1404 (Iranian calendar), while negotiations were progressing, Israel bombed Iran’s nuclear facilities, thus violating both the United Nations Charter and the IAEA Statute. The campaign also cited that in Esfand—despite notable progress in talks—the United States and Israel again disrupted the diplomatic process.
The group condemned attacks on civilian areas and non-military infrastructure in Iran, arguing that such aggression has cost thousands of civilian lives. It pointed to Donald Trump’s withdrawal from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) as another example of obstruction to diplomacy. The statement also criticized what it called a double standard by Western powers on nuclear issues: the UK, France, Germany, and the United States continuing illegal actions against Iran while pushing a resolution at the IAEA Board of Governors to refer Iran to the Security Council and to argue noncompliance with safeguards and to facilitate inspections. The campaign described this stance as the latest overt display of nuclear double standards and noted that Israel, possessing nuclear weapons and refusing to allow inspections of its own facilities, has not faced equivalent international condemnation.
CND also criticized renewed UK sanctions on Iran, warning that new financial, trade, and transport restrictions would further burden ordinary Iranians. The campaign argued that ongoing aggression increases the risk that Iran might decide to leave the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and emphasized that the most effective way to preserve Iran’s participation in the treaty is to end the illegal war against the country.
