Tehran – IRNA reports that Gaza's Ministry of Social Affairs said the shelters of the displaced are deteriorating due to weather and prolonged use, with 70-80% of tents and shelters damaged. The ministry estimates around 1.2 to 1.5 million people are living in densely populated camps with little basic services, and it urged the immediate provision of at least 200,000 new tents and 300,000 weather-resistant plastic coverings to meet minimum shelter needs. It called on the international community, UN agencies and humanitarian groups to speed up delivery of shelter supplies and to remove constraints on convoy entry, warning that continued delays could worsen the humanitarian situation and trigger a broader catastrophe among the displaced. The report notes that many Gazans shelter in partially damaged buildings whose risk of collapse endangers residents. Separately, last Wednesday a six-story residential building in Gaza City, previously damaged in Israeli attacks, collapsed, killing 11 Palestinians and leaving dozens missing; rescue teams recovered 11 bodies from the rubble, with hundreds of homes at risk across Gaza.
